“Miss Bennet: Christmas At Pemberley”

Christmas at Pemberly’s is a continuance of the story of Pride and Prejudice with the same characters. Being set in the regency era and with limited stock at the theatre I built/drafted a lot of costumes for this show. For the women I drafted/built 8 dresses, 3 over dresses, 6 petticoats, 2 Pelisses, a vest, and a spencer. For the men’s costumes I built 6 vests and 3 pairs of pants. I also worked on a few of big re-constructing of stock garments to fit the casts.

All built items for the women started with mockups that where fit in the first fitting. Each actress had a dress bodice with a sleeve that was fit and used as a base for all of there dresses.

The designer utilized a lot of sarees in the women’s dresses making it tricky when cutting the skirts for the taller actresses but very fun when it came to placements. This cream multi color dress made from a silk saree is a great example of this. The boarder prints are re-applied to the hems like a facing for future alterations. All dresses where built with extra seam allowance in the back, side seam, and at the waist. The neck edges are finished with piping for easing in the wide necklines for future use.

There vests, spencer’s, pelisses, and over dresses where fit with mock ups over there dress mockups. They where all fully lined as the items where taken on and off on stage.
